Ron Paul on CNN: The Federal Reserve is the Culprit

Despite the proliferation of websites and blogs that criticise the US Federal Reserve System for creating the current financial crisis, it is rare to find such criticism in the mainstream media.  However in a recent interview with John Roberts on CNN Congressman Ron Paul blamed the current financial crisis on the Federal Reserve.

Paul stated that ‘We haven’t had free market policies in this country for a long long time, because once you have a Federal Reserve System, they are the central economic planners.  They manipulate the economy by artificially lowering interest rates. There are a lot more people in this country that are waking up to the fact that the culprit is really the Federal Reserve, the monetary system, this spendthrift congress that we have, and government. Once that’s realised and we have enough people it will change, because we can’t continue to do what we’re doing now – something has to give.’
